On your next trip, plan some time for Branson outdoors at Table Rock Dam. Located in Table Rock State Park, the dam is a drawing point to many outdoors lovers for several reasons. It is a beautiful sight to see when the waterways are opened and the sun is glistening across the waves. The dam splits both Table Rock Lake and Lake Taneycomo at the point where Highway 165 and 265 meet, at the southeast end of town. Prime photo opportunities surround the area, with scampering animals and the conversation of the wind in the trees and the birds in the sky.
Nearby Activities:
Beyond just looking around there are many available activities for those who need to stretch their limbs. Table Rock Lakeshore Trail behind the dam runs down the south side of the dam at the Dewey Short Visitor Center to the State Park Marina. It is eight feet wide, permitting quite a journey into a deeper natural setting and water-lovers can get a closer look at Table Rock Lake, which can be teeming with boats and water activities during the season. The trail is paved for hiking, biking, skating, and other activities and conveniently, there are restrooms at various points. Through woodlands, over creeks and nearing the shoreline of Table Rock Lake at intermittent points, this trail is recommended for all ages and fitness levels. With campgrounds, the marina and boat launching nearby, the activity is non-stop, but this will not take away from a quiet walk in the midst of nature.
The fish hatchery located next to Table Rock Dam and Lake Taneycomo can be a delightful addition to visiting the park area. Tours are given of the dam and hatchery and provide a wonderful learning experience for visitors. Opportunities to feed the fish are available as well, which can make the day for children. And if catching fish is more your speed, then Lake Taneycomo provides some of the best trout fishing in the country.
