The Springfield Branson Regional Airport is conveniently located in Springfield, Missouri and is only a short drive away from various shows and attractions in both Springfield and Branson. In fact, the first recorded flight into what is now known as Springfield Branson Regional Airport was in 1916. Privately owned for many years, the airport changed hands (and names) several times before first being available for commercial service in 1929. After WWII, Springfield voters funded the building of a new airport seven miles northwest of the city to accommodate larger planes, and then a new terminal in 1960 for increased passenger count. The airport was renamed in 1992 to the Springfield Branson Regional Airport and now serves a good portion of the Ozarks with an updated facility and friendly staff.
